You may remember my post last year about the twinleaf plant (Jeffersonia diphylla), when I lamented the fact that I missed the ONE day this plant was in bloom. Of course I was aware that the flower lasts only a short time after blooming in April or May, and that it gives way to a green pear-shaped capsule with a hinged top. In 2011 a violent rainstorm “unhinged” the flower petals while I was at work, and I never saw this plant bloom. This time around, under perfect circumstances (no wind, no rain) the flower was present less than two days. But this time I had daylight and a working camera battery on my side. Talk about timing…
